Physiotherapists provide services that develop, maintain and restore people’s maximum movement and functional ability. They can help people at any stage of life, when movement and function are threatened by ageing, injury, diseases, disorders, conditions or environmental factors.

Physiotherapists help the people to maximise their quality of life by looking at physical, psychological and social wellbeing. They work in the health spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment / intervention, hablitation and rehabilitation.

-When do I see a Physiotherapist at Healing Space?

You need to see us with APPOINTMENT if:
• You are unable to lift or play with your child / grandchild
• You are unable to sit comfortably when doing your work/ driving
• You find difficult to go up & down the stairs
• You are unable to continue your fitness routine& sportse.g. walking, yoga, playing badminton / golf
• You need to improve performance & finish top in the sport
• You are limping
• You feel stiff in body part/s
• Feel difficulty in moving body part/s after injury / surgery
• Pain is disturbing your sleep

-Can I refer myself or my child for Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy treatment?

Yes. You or any of your family members & friends can self-refer to us directly. We also welcome referrals from Orthopaedic Doctors, Sports Medicine Consultants, Neuro- Surgeons, Rheumatologists, Pain Specialists, Paediatricians,General Physicians, Special Needs Educators, Schools, Teachers, Dieticians, Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Personal Trainers & other professional colleagues.

-What to expect on 1st appointment at Healing Space?

When you arrive at Healing Space, one of the team members will welcome and do the registration process. You will be provided with a small questionnaire regarding your symptoms and expectations with therapy. You will then be escorted to one of the treatment rooms according to your appointment time by the therapist where a detailed assessment will be carried out.

The assessment findings will be discussed with you followed by designing a treatment plan specific to your needs. We will encourage you to ask questions throughout the sessions to improve your knowledge and hence maximising participation in achieving the best desired realistic outcome.

Along with providing treatment following the assessment, exercises and precautions also form the key components of your treatment plan to maximise the benefit. At the end of the session, you will be booked a follow up appointment depending on the problem and the tailored treatment plan.

Your therapist will provide you with booking slip to be handed over to reception staff for booking follow up appointments as convenient and available times.

-What do Physiotherapists at Healing Space do?

We take pride to align our services to standards set up by World Confederation for Physical Therapists (WCPT). Physiotherapists at Healing Space adhere to:
• Undertake a comprehensive examination/assessment of the patient/client or needs of a client group
• Evaluate the findings from the examination/assessment to make clinical judgments regarding patients/clients
• Formulate a diagnosis, prognosis and plan • Provide consultation within their expertise and determine when patients/clients need to be referred to another healthcare professional
• Implement a physical therapist intervention/treatment programme
• Determine the outcomes of any interventions/treatments
• Make recommendations for self-management.

-What should I wear for the appointment?

Kindly come in comfortable & loose clothing as you may need to expose the region to some extent for the purpose of assessment & treatment including exercises. Use of shorts or sleeveless tops is recommended. Wearing appropriate footwear is also advisable especially while performing exercise.

-How long will be the appointment?

New Physiotherapy consultations will generally last up to 1 hour whereas follow up appointments will be 30 - 45 minutes. All Occupational Therapy appointments lastup to 1 hour.

-What if I am running late for my appointment?

We run appointment systems at Healing Space. Kindly inform at earliest if you will be late. You may still be seen but only for your appointment duration.

-I can’t attend my appointment, do I need to inform?

Yes. If you can’t attend, please give us 24 hour notice from your scheduled appointment time on any given working day (Mon – Sat). Failure to do so will lead to charge of the session.

-Do I need any X-ray, MRI or Blood tests?

No, you don’t need X-ray, MRI or blood tests unless there is clinical relevance. The therapist will discuss with you if there is such a need. If you already have done any of the investigations, kindly bring along on the day of appointment.

-Do I need to use any supports like Cervical Collar, Lumbar Belt, Knee brace etc.?

Physiotherapist will be able to decide on its benefit once a thorough assessment has been carried out. You can discuss this with your Physiotherapist & they may refer to the products range on offer at Healing Space as appropriate.

-Do I receive therapy report regarding my condition?

Yes. Kindly discuss your request with the therapist to prepare and send you the report.

-Can I refer my family & friends directly?

Yes. You are very welcome to refer your friends & family to Healing Space. Kindly speak to one of our member of staff regarding in-house referral policy.

-Is my personal information safe?

Confidentiality of your personal information is one of our highest priorities. All of the information are stored in a secure place & only accessed when needed.

-Is the clinic disabled friendly?

Yes, we have ensured that the premises are access friendly for mobility disabled. The premises are accessible by lift throughout the Clinic’s operational hours. We have carried out accessibility assessment & recommendations as advised by Consulting Occupational Therapist.
